11/23/2011 Memorial Service for K-9 Kendo : K-9 Kendo was a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois purchased through Tarheel Canine of North Carolina. Kendo began his service with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office in 2009. Upon arrival, Kendo successfully completed a sixteen week basic K-9 training course before becoming certified in the Patrol and Explosive Detection fields. Throughout his years of service, K-9 Kendo participated in numerous tracks consisting of explosive detection, search and rescue, and wanted apprehensions, including the track of a wanted subject who had fled on foot from a Maryland State Police Trooper. “When the term police canine is mentioned, many people think of the invaluable crime fighting and public relations service a canine provides to the law enforcement organization and the citizens they serve, but forget the humanistic significance of the police canine. K-9 Kendo was a valued member of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office family. He was also the protector, partner, friend and family member of Corporal Todd Fleenor. Kendo’s passing is a significant loss to us personally and professionally. His enthusiasm and sense of duty to the people of St. Mary’s County will be missed. Please keep Corporal Fleenor and K-9 Kendo in your thoughts during this difficult time. Kendo, we salute you and thank you for your dedicated service. May you rest in peace.” (Sheriff Timothy K. 8/24/2011 Police Need Help Solving a Murder in Lexington Park : On August 24, 2011 at 11:38 P.M. police units responded to the area of Sell Drive, Lexington Park, Maryland for the report of a motor vehicle striking a tree. Upon police arrival it was determined the operator of the vehicle, Deandre Agustus Hawkins, age 20, of Lexington Park had a gunshot wound in his upper torso. Hawkins was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing an investigation into this incident. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Det. R. 7/22/2011 Impaired Driver Arrested on Great Mills Rd After a 10-50 : On July 22, 2011 at 1224 hours Connie Sue Jameson, of St. Inigoes, 48, was operating a 2007 Ford F150 at the intersection of Great Mills road, and Shangri La Drive, Lexington Park. Jameson failed to stop and struck a 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante stopped in the lane at a traffic signal. Officers, assisted by Sheriff Timothy Cameron, determined Jameson was under the influence of prescription medications, when she failed several field sobriety tests. Jameson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. No injuries were reported in the collision.

1/12/2011 Arrest at Hermanville - Man with Gun : A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Three Notch Road and Hermanville Road. Suspect Dizon was found to be in possession of a loaded, stolen 44 caliber revolver. A search of the residence that is occupied by Suspect Deshields and Suspect Dizon was observed leaving was searched. Recovered were additional rounds of 44 caliber ammunition, an assault rifle and additional ammunition, cocaine, marijuana and other items of evidence. The handgun was stolen from a burglary in the Hollywood area. BCI detectives responded and continued that portion of the investigation.
