Fuzions Gets Shut Down : On February 29, 2008, the State Fire Marshal’s Office served the ownership of Fuzion Night Club in California with an order preventing the establishment from hosting live bands or large crowds. At approximately 2215 hours, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, at the request of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, responded to Fuzion Night Club for a report of a large crowd and live music. The State Fire Marshal requested assistance from the deputies in shutting down and evacuating the establishment for the night. Deputy Scott Ruest and Corporal James Fowler were walking through Fuzion. The majority of the crowd had left the establishment. David Robert Cook, age 29 of California, who was still inside the establishment, walked directly towards Corporal Fowler and Deputy Ruest. Although there was significant room on either side of the deputies for Cook to walk by, Cook continued in the direct path of the deputies. Cook used his chest and right shoulder to deliberately strike Corporal Fowler as he walked by the deputies. Cook was arrested for Second Degree Assault.

Five Arrested After Police Break up Valley Court Brawl : On June 25, St. Mary's Sheriff's deputies responded to the reported fight in progress in a Lexington Park neighborhood. Once on the scene, deputies observed an extremely large crowd of people outside in the parking lot, according to Lt. Daniel Alioto. Michael Antonio Barnes, 21 of Lexington Park, was ordered to cease his disorderly actions and he refused. He was told he was under arrest and he failed to comply, which led to Deputies utilizing Pepper Spray. Suspect Barnes turned and ran before being placed into custody. Suspect Angel Patricia Carter, 23 of Lexington Park, interfered with the arrest and ordered Deputies to let Suspect Barnes go. She was arrested. It was her arrest that led to Suspect Nathan Tyrell Galloway, 22 of Lexington Park, to become disorderly and incite the crowd. He failed to comply with orders of the Deputies on the scene and he was advised he was under arrest. After failing to follow the directions of the Deputies attempting to place him into custody, a TASER was utilized to gain his cooperation. As the crowd grew in size, a 16 year old juvenile male was arrested for his disorderly actions. He began to spit at Deputies and continuously spit in the rear of the marked police vehicle after he was arrested. As additional Deputies responded Suspect Paula Elizabeth Perry, 40 of Great Mills, who had followed instructions and left the scene, returned and she was arrested without further incident. No one was injured.

Pull your pants up, when you run from cops : Shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday, volunteer medical responders were dispatched for a man reported to be unconscious in a telephone booth on Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park.
Upon contact with the man, Joshua M. Bragalone, of no fixed address, he regained consciousness and then became combative with medical personnel. A St. Mary’s Sheriff Deputy on the scene arrested Bragalone for being disorderly and intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself and others. Minutes later, the handcuffs were removed by the Deputy to allow for for medical treatment by Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, and at that time Bragalone fled on foot. A short chase ensued and the suspect was apprehended. He was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. A Preliminary Breath Test taken at the Detention Center by Correctional Officer Staff revealed a .39 BAC. St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Lt. Dan. Alioto said the test is standard procedure in this situation. “It first appeared to be a person in medical distress, and all of the sudden it went from a medical scene to a crime when he became combative with medical personnel,” Alioto told The Bay Net Wednesday night. “Keep in mind that the people who responded to this first are volunteers, who do a fantastic job, and are often taken for granted,” Alioto said. “We can’t have them getting assaulted.”
